Marek Hamšík Will Be A Diamond!
Charitable auction for people with Multiple Sclerosis disease
Slovak football star Marek Hamšík will be the first Slovak to have his own diamond. Indeed, the gem will not belong to his family, but can be owned by anyone placing a bid in a charitable auction of the diamond on the Internet, via sms or social media. The amount gained from the auction will be used to help specific families and patients with the Multiple Sclerosis disease.
Swiss company Augenstern Diamonds is a world leader in personalized diamonds. An Augenstern Diamond is made entirely from a donor's body carbon and is therefore as unique as the donor is. And although laboratory produced, it is a real diamond.
Augenstern Diamonds will provide the diamond made from Marek Hamsik's hair free of charge, so the entire amount gained from the auction will support specific patients with the incurable Multiple Sclerosis disease who will be chosen in cooperation with the Slovak SM Organization Hope (Združenie sclerosis multiplex Nádej).
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic disorder of the central nervous system in which the protective sheath, so called myelin sheath, surrounding the nerves and nerve fibers is damaged, causing invasion of electrical impulses from a variety of body organs to the brain leading mostly to severe problems with motion and sense-perception. It is known as a disease of young people and it leads to permanent disability. There is no cure yet for the disease and the reasons for genesis of the disease are still unknown.
Augenstern Diamonds organized similar charitable auctions in cooperation with F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, from whom a 0.5 ct diamond, created from his own hair, was auctioned pro bono by the Swiss Multiple Sclerosis Society.
